HLH 3x12 Extension Cabinet

The HLH 312: Superior Tone with Rock Star Looks!

The HLH 312 speaker cabinet produces superior tone and definition without the beaming associated with typical 4x12 cabinets thanks to 3RD POWER’s proprietary triangular cabinet design.

Inspired by Studio Control Room Design Concepts
It is well known that under ideal circumstances, a control should not contain parallel walls. This ensures in part that you'll better avoid sound reflections and their associated phase cancellation. Our patent-pending cabinet design follows this logic and in fact, employs additional control room design techniques to achieve the optimal environment for your your amplifier's speakers.

Incredible tone boldly flows from each HLH312 speaker cabinet by way of (3) Celestion® Vintage 30 speakers that are mounted in a concentrated grouping that eliminates 50% of the primary arrays associated with typical 4x12 speaker cabinets.

The result is an amazingly rich, thick reproduction of your guitar sound that's huge yet even sounding throughout the desired performance area with a stunning point-source image quality.

Setup Configurations: Bigger Sound, Less Space
The unique triangle shape lends itself to very unique setup configurations. By stacking (3) cabinets with the center one inverted, you can achieve an incredible 'wet/dry/wet' configuration in the same approximate space as (2) typical 4x12 cabinets. In this fashion, it is possible to assemble a sonic pyramid of any size you desire. Need a single cabinet? Wonder where you're going to put your amplifier head? Check out our SWITCHBACK™ 212 cabinet that employs our triangle speaker chamber technology within a standard rectangular box.

TECH SPOTLIGHT: POINT-SOURCE and PHASE COHERENCY

A “point-source” effect is created when speaker drivers are concentrated in a location such that the listener experiences focused sound coming from a specific location.

Phase-coherent sound allows for full sound to travel over greater distances and cover a larger area with less loss due to phase distortion or phase collision.

The HLH 312 speaker enclosure is designed to deliver point-source performance with outstanding phase coherency. The result: a wide frequency, full sound output throughout the entire listening area without the comb-filtering and phase distortions associated with typical rectangular speaker enclosures.

The graphic above illustrates the 6 arrays that occur in typical 4x12 enclosures. These arrays typically interact with each other such that significant phase distortion and array collisions occur degrading the radiated sound waves resulting in sound that dramatically changes in quality as you walk around.

In the proprietary HLH 312 enclosure from 3RD POWER, the 3 arrays that occur represent a 50% improvement in array-source wave propagation when compared to a typical 4x12. To further enhance performance, we chose the Celestion Vintage 30 for it's remarkable guitar sound and constant directivity properties. Additionally, each driver is placed as close as possible to one another improving time alignment and enhancing the point-source effect.

With the HLH312 guitar cabinet from 3RD POWER, the result is a rich, thick guitar tone that's incredibly huge and responsive throughout the entire performance area - we like to call this the 3RD POWER, "Tone Sauna!"
